Betty White’s new sitcom Hot in Cleveland is getting a chance to be Hot in Canada.
CTV has acquired the series, which originates on U.S. cable channel TV Land (not the same thing as the Canadian TV Land). Hot in Cleveland makes its Canadian debut on CTV on Monday, July 5.
The 10-part series revolves around three best friends from Los Angeles – novelist Melanie Moretti (Valerie Bertinelli), beautician Joy Scroggs (Jane Leeves) and former soap star Victoria Chase (Wendie Malick) - whose Paris-bound plane makes an unexpected landing in Cleveland.
When the friends discover they actually are “hot in Cleveland”, they decide to stay. They rent a house that comes with a feisty caretaker, Elka Ostrovsky (White).
Hot in Cleveland’s U.S. debut on TV Land last week garnered the highest ratings in the 14-year history of that channel.
